NEW ERA & NEW BEGINNING?

Lee Westwood replaces Tiger Woods at the top of the rankings after Ryder Cup team-mate Martin Kaymer failed to finish in the top two at the Andalucia Masters.

Kaymer remains third in the rankings but the USPGA champion is one of four players who can claim top spot at this week's WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.

Westwood, Woods, Kaymer and Phil Mickelson are all in action at Sheshan International Golf Club, with the quartet separated by less than half a point.

So,Will he still be there after HSBC Shanghai Noon?

CIMB Asia Pacific Classic - Same Old result and same old excuses....

American Ben Crane won the inaugural CIMB Asia Pacific Classic on Sunday, eagling the par-4 15th and making an 8-foot birdie putt on the final hole to beat England’s Brian Davis by a stroke.

Crane closed with a 2-under 69 at The Mines Resort to finish at 18 under and earned $1 million in the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event in Southeast Asia.

Mardan Mamat, one the two Singaporean, who turned 43 yesterday, collected US$237,500 in prize money. The others who finished tied with Mardan were Ryan Moore, D. J. Trahan, Ricky Flower, Robert Allenby and Ernie Els.

And for Malaysian only golfer who was in the field and previously claimed that he will play in his favourite golf course.….. sigh…. Same old stories and same old excuses…. Even the Bangladeshi who is rarely play golf was much much better …

TIGER ROAR NO MORE!!

It is now 25 months since Woods won a major. And while that is not a record barren spell for him it sure should be troubling to him.
Mr. Woods now has played seven tournament without winning. Its the longest he has ever gone at the start of the season since turning pro. Not even at the Master or US Open.
At least he still has the world number one spot. But although he slightly widened the gap over Phil Mickelson at St Andrews - the Masters champion came 48th - Open runner-up Lee Westwood is much closer to him in third.
Winner by eight at St Andrews in 2000 and by five there in 2005, the 34-year-old this time finished 13 strokes behind Louis Oosthuizen.
And the statistics do not make happy reading for golf's biggest name.
And yet he's agreed on his divorce settlement. From the way i see it, he will strugle for at least another six months... what a shame!

THE WILD WILD WESTWOOD

There are a similarity between Tim Clarke and Lee Westwood. They both need to wait for some long-awaited win in US soil.

Lee Westwood , current world number three and European number one, who has won 23 times worldwide has ended his long wait for a second PGA Tour title as he defeated Sweden's Robert Karlsson at the fourth hole of a sudden-death play-off at the St Jude Classic in Memphis, but only after American Robert Garrigus had blown a three-stroke lead at the 72nd hole, his triple bogey handing the European duo a second chance.

Now, he is ready for Pebble Beach…

HE IS BACK!!!...but………

Same Old Stories & Same Old Excuses at Maybank Malaysian Open

Without denying how dramatic Noh Seung-yul secured one-stroke victory over illustrious countryman K.J. Choi , Malaysian professional golfer will keep on dreaming.

While Korean star K.J. Choi donated US$87,000 to six Johor-based charities today from his winnings at last season’s Iskandar Johor Open, Malaysian professional golfer are yet to earn US20,000.00 this year.!!!!

No more to gain experience, poor iron play, simple mistake and what ever other excuses. You guys are professional for God sake!!!

No Malaysian has ever won the national Open since the event inauguration in 1962 and my gut feeling…. They will never do!!!

So, What's next?

It has been 53 days since golf's biggest star announced he was stepping away to sort out a private life that has run amok through tabloids and gossip magazines because of his extramarital affairs.
And that's why the "indefinite break" from golf that Woods announced two months ago didn't really start until Tuesday.
Truth is, little has changed during his absence.
At least so far.
The U.S. PGA Tour is only three weeks into its new season, three events that Woods usually doesn't play. Besides, not as many Americans watch golf during those weeks, from behind the ropes or on the sofa.

Torrey Pines, however, is different.

It's the first tournament on U.S. network television. It's where Woods and his chief rival, Phil Mickelson, typically start their seasons.
How much will the tour miss Woods? Now is the time to start keeping score.
The bigger question, which no one can answer, is when he will return.
