Lee Westwood replaces Tiger Woods at the top of the rankings after Ryder Cup team-mate Martin Kaymer failed to finish in the top two at the Andalucia Masters.
Kaymer remains third in the rankings but the USPGA champion is one of four players who can claim top spot at this week's WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
Westwood, Woods, Kaymer and Phil Mickelson are all in action at Sheshan International Golf Club, with the quartet separated by less than half a point.
