Honesty is the best policy.

43- years old JP Hayes has a chance to qualify in USPGA. But he decided to DQ himself from the second stage of the USPGA Q-school.

During the said tournament, his caddie gave him a new ball and he played it. After a while he realised that it was not the same type of ball which he declared during the first tee. Then he rushed to report it to rules official and took two stroke penalty.

Ops, it was not over!!!! Back in his hotel room, he again checked the ball and also realised that he had played was a prototype ball and it was yet to be approve by PGA for tournament use. What he going to do next??? He called a PGA Tour official and DQ himself for using a non conforming golf balls.!!!!

HE WILL BE BACK!!!

Good news!!!! World number one could return from knee surgery in March, according to reports in the United States.
As we all now, PGA Tour earns the majority of its money through five main sources of revenue: Sponsorships, television contracts, corporate hospitality, and tournament attendance.
After he beat Rocco Mediate (with one leg) in a thrilling 19th hole play-off in 2008 US Open, he went for his second left knee surgery eigth days later. From that point on, television ratings and tournament attendance figures took a serious nose dive.

Television ratings and attendance figures are the PGA Tour’s main selling points when attempting to peak the interest of new potential title sponsors, and as demonstrated in this article, neither of those selling points carry much weight without Tiger Woods.

Without Tiger roar, the television ratings for the 2008 British Open and WGC- Bridgestone Invitational drop down to 14.6% and 39% respectively. AT&T classic even more worst!! Dropped dead 48%!!!! Even Greg Norman or Padraig Harrington who win his Claret Jug for two consecutive year could not save it.

If Tiger Woods is able to successfully return to the PGA Tour in 2009, it is almost a certainty that the television ratings will once again go through the roof.

Even if the attendance figures remain low as a result of the recession, television ratings are what the sponsors are most interested in.

Luckily for the PGA Tour, Woods is arguably the greatest pressure player in the history of sports.

Airil Rizman Zahari

Airil claimed a career breakthrough victory at the Pakistan Open in 2007 at Karachi Golf Club. His win in Pakistan made him only the second Malaysian after Danny Chia to win on the Asian Tour. Airil credited a new practice regime based from a programme used in the Australian Institute of Sports for helping him to victory. After a lack of success prior to his triumph, Airil contemplated quitting life as a touring professional despite some success on the domestic front. After his breakthrough, he went on to finish tied seventh in the Motorola International Bintan.
However, he suffered a dip in form in the second half of the season which he attributed to a change in equipment. Nevertheless, he is currently on 84 spot in Asian Tour Order of Merit with total career earning after 2008 season USD190, 381.21. Not bad for Malaysian who currently on 992 spot in the world golf ranking. Sigh…..

ORDER OF MERIT – ASIAN TOUR VS PGA TOUR

Kudos to Jeev Mikha Singh who produced another stunning year in 2008, winning four times around the world including the Barclays Singapore Open to win his second Asian Tour's Order of Merit title in three years. He also won titles in Europe and Japan and moved up to a career high 35th in the world. Jeev won a record US$1.45 million on the Asian Tour to become the first man to surpass a million dollars in winnings in a single season.

He also enjoyed outstanding performances at the Majors, finishing tied 25th in his second appearance at the US Masters and was tied ninth at the US PGA Championship despite playing with an injured ankle. It was his best finish at a Major. Jeev also enjoyed an outstanding year in 2006, winning four times across the world, lifting his maiden Asian Tour's Order of Merit crown and leaping to 37th place on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Despite winning Asian order of Merit and winning US1.45 million he only equal to Ryan Palmer who are now 68th spot in PGA Tour and Tom Kite (10th spot) in Champions Tour…

Sigh…. No wonder our Asian Tour players standard still far behind…don’t ask me to start to compare with LPGA!!!!!!

John Daly - You are grounded!!!

Volatile John Daly has been suspended (again) from the US PGA Tour for six months, according to multiple reports.
The ban is reportedly for conduct that has brought unwelcome publicity to the tour, including an incident in October when he spent a night in jail in North Carolina sobering up after being taken into custody at a local Hooters restaurant. That led to his photo in the orange jail suit with eyes half closed, which became an internet sensation.

Daly, who is a two-time major championship winner, was previously suspended from the tour in 1992-93. But his career has been dragged down by two trips to alcohol rehab, four marriages, gambling losses and other off-course episodes that have made him a sideshow to some and a cult figure to others.

CBS Sports analyst David Feherty, a recovering alcoholic, said after the North Carolina arrest he hoped Daly would get help. “He’s one of the most generous and one of the kindest souls,” Feherty said. “The stories of his generosity to the people are legendary. The only person he has ever been unkind to is himself.” Did he?
